Introducing Halloween Mini Sessions

We have had a great time putting together a shoot just for kids and/or their families. I think that Halloween is a fun, innocent time for kids to have an excuse to dress up, play around, have fun, and most of all eat all of that sweet candy. We kept this in mind when creating the mini shoot. We even hopped in the scenery for our own picture (see below). We hope to see a lot of families in Thornton taking advantage of what this mini session has to offer. Please make your reservation in the spirit of children and Halloween.

We hope to see you there!!!!

Candid moments

I was at a wedding this weekend at the Christies of Genesee venue. I especially like this venue because the staff works as such a great team and is always very inviting to me as a vendor. This wedding included the most adorable children who made use of all of the ambiance of the garden area at Christies. I got the snapshot below of the two little ones gazing into the pond while standing on the bridge. It was so cute! I really love getting those pictures. Despite the bride and groom being busy with all of the details of their special day, I captured it with my camera for them to cherish later as they look through their wedding images for the first time.

Congrats to H & T! I wish you the best and hope that you continue to keep each other smiling.

A beautiful wedding nestled in the trees

This weekend I joined C & R for their lovely wedding nestled in the trees of her grandparents back yard. The day started with perfect weather and a pop of champagne with the ladies in waiting. As I snapped pictures to record the day, I soon found the brides gown in the basement sewing room. A handmade wedding gown, what other perfect wedding gift could a bride receive from her mom on her wedding day? It was perfect!

After a ceremony of tying the knot (literally), some photos in the church courtyard, an early locking of the church doors with my equipment still inside, and a key to avoid the emergency, the couple drove off in the antique Rolls-Royce with glasses of champagne in hand. At the reception, the garden party was beautifully decorated with accents of blue, cake topper made by the bride, and garden gnomes hidden throughout the lawn. I was given the task to find these gnomes and I only located 6.

I wish the joining of these two families much happiness and bonding in the years to come. May you marriage always be as beautiful as the two of you are.

Brides.....don't DIY yourself to death

It is the last month approaching your wedding......you realize that you have way too much to do. Instead of enjoying the planning and relishing the details of your wedding, you have to run around, get supplies, and beg your friends, family, and your soon to be husband to be to help you finish all of the details. There is just one thing.............you are not enjoying yourself running around like a chicken with your head cut off.  Of course your wedding day should be fabulous, but you should not have to give up all of your time of enjoying the process.

This was me about 8 years ago when I got married.  As an artistic bride, I wanted everything "one of a kind", of course my wedding turned out fabulous and I had a good time, BUT, in retrospect, I wish I would have paid a event planner to take care of those details for me. I admit the idea of an event planner seams expensive, but overall the time and money they save you is worth the little bit of change out of your pocket upfront. You couples out there have wonderful ideas, I am sure you can communicate those to a wedding planner.

Suggestions, keep it simple but elegant. Take a moment to calculate how much time a project will take you versus hiring someone to do it for you. That way on the big day, you are in awe of your own reception and are glad you did not work up to the last second making EVERYTHING!

Happy wedding planning!

Excited for Halloween!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it is a little soon for a post on Halloween, BUT my whole day has been consumed by thoughts of HALLOWEEN!!! My husband and I love Halloween. We are planning a little costume party at our house this year and just spent a few minutes talking to the neighbors about it.  Even my dogs like to eat pumpkin when we are carving them.

It is such an exciting time of the change of the season from hot summer to the cool, dry air of fall. Not only are there so many photography opportunities during the fall months (**more news to come on mini sessions), DYI decorations are key to a successful Halloween party.

Stepping into the music

As a wedding photographer, I don't get the opportunity to photograph too many band gigs, so it was nice to go to see my friends band, The Royal play at the Marquis Theater, Denver.  These guys were recently nominated to pay at the 93.3's Big Gig Locals only stage at Red Rocks. Check them out and download their EP. My favorite song is "Daggers"but, it didn't make it on the set list at last nights show.
I am always intrigued by the effort and passion that all artists put into their work.  Beyond the colored lights and booming speakers, smaller bands, like The Royal, seem to put more effort into interacting with the crowd and just having a good time. Great show! Enjoy the pics

Family Life

Recently I had a shoot with The C Family. It has been a pleasure to be a part of photographing another family as they grow together. As we awaited the baby boy to awake from his slumber, I got a chance to snap some shots of the big sister and her cousin. This gives you a little bit of behind the scenes of what interactions I get to see behind my camera. It really makes me giggle when I get home and look at my pictures from the day.

I really enjoy being a photographer for a family and see them grow through the years.

Once, twice, three times a wedding

It was a warm day in a little church in Manitou Springs, where I joined a familiar family to photograph another generation of nuptials. On this day, two soul mates, Paul and Hannah, snuggled together in the quaint church as they tuned their hears to the priest and soaked in the essence of their faith and words of wisdom the priest offered. Then we headed off to the beautiful Briarhurst Manor for the reception.

I loved being a part of this day not only because it is a wedding and I am a sap for weddings, but because this family is full of dear people who have supported my ventures as a photographer. This is my 3rd wedding for this extended family, referrals are the best!

Not only am I happy for Hannah and Paul to start their humble, devoted life together, I am happy to add another family photo to the families album.

Congratulations Hannah and Paul! May you hold true love and happy hearts forever.

Ten Mile Station Wedding

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Mr. & Mrs. H at Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge. Not only was this a beautiful mountain venue with an AWESOME event coordinator, this couple was just amazing.  Their friends had nothing but funny stories to share about their relationship.

One lucky bridesmaid had the catch of her life! I caught all of this with my camera. Enjoy the pics from the H Family wedding. Have a wonderful, happy marriage.
